Kapiti Coast Attractions
Our Motel, "Wrights by the Sea", is the perfect escape from busy city life. Just 40 minutes north of Wellington, the Kapiti Coast can offer something for every taste, from peaceful shopping to exciting adventures.
Wrights by the Sea at Paraparaumu Beach is centrally located for sightseeing and to take advantage of all Kapiti Coast Tourist Attractions.

Paraparaumu Beach
Sheltered from the westerly winds by Kapiti Island, Paraparaumu Beach offers a broad expanse of clean sand, ideal for walking, jogging, beachcombing, cycling or exercising the dog. Safe swimming is available year-round.
Marine Parade extends along the foreshore of Paraparaumu Beach to Raumati Beach Shopping Centre, about 2 km to the south. MacLean Park, on the seaward side of the Parade, offers a charming area with elegant trees, neat lawns, seating, a skate board bowl, children's playground and the Paraparaumu Boating Club.
Kapiti Island Nature Reserve
Kapiti Island Nature Reserve is five kilometres offshore from Paraparaumu Beach.
Kapiti Island has a unique and fascinating flora and fauna. The Island is an internationally renowned nature reserve and bird sanctuary with some of the world's rarest birds.
See rare saddlebacks, stitch birds, kokako (blue-wattled crow), red crowned parakeets, and the flightless takahe (Notornis).
These rare birds co-exist with the more common pigeon, kaka, tui, bell bird, fantail, tomtit, robin, weka and royal spoonbill. And along the coastline are gulls, gannets, penguins, terns and shearwaters.
As a guest of Wrights by the Sea, leave your car at the motel and enjoy a day with Kapiti Marine Charter or Kapiti Tours Ltd visiting this magnificent nature reserve and scenic attraction. You may wish to stay overnight on the Island - contact Kapiti Island Nature Lodge for more details.

Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course
Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club enjoys a long held international reputation as the premier links course in New Zealand.
The course is located just across the road from Wrights by the Sea. Imagine being able to reach the first tee of this acclaimed links course within 5 minutes of your motel room.
This course is rated as the best course in the country and, because of its qualities as a traditional links, in the top 100 golf courses in the world.
The well-drained undulating fairways, fierce rough, fast greens and intimidating bunkers combine with the naturally windy coastal weather to create a truly challenging golfing experience.
Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club welcomes visitors. The professional shop is fully stocked with all golfing requirements and two PGA Professionals are available for golf tuition.
